第6回目にチャレンジしました。

やった感想

午前中にやりましたが、
なぜか眠くて・・・途中意識が飛びそうになる事がありました（笑）
寝不足じゃないのに・・・夏の暑さって時々眠気を誘います。（言い訳）

意識が飛んで、しっかり解けなかった自覚があったので、
2回挑戦しました。

その後、答え合わせをしましたが2回目は全問正解でした。
という事は・・・全問正解できる実力はあるという事。

問題はスピードと集中力なのかもしれません・・・。

138 However uncomfortable they may be, helmets, goggles, and gloves absolutely must be worn by anyone entering the construction zone.
訳：どんなにそれらが不快だとしても、ヘルメット、ゴーグル、手袋は建設現場に立ち入る人たちは必ず装着しなければならない。

この問題を見た時に、howeverは接続詞かと思ってしまったので、

正解に結び付けられませんでした。2回目にやった時は気づいたのに・・・。

however＋形容詞＋主語＋動詞：・・・がどんなに～だとしても。

例えば、

However frustrated I am, I wouldn't cry like him. 

私はどんなに悔しくても、彼のようには泣きません。

みたいな。口・・・開けてる（笑）。

間違え以外にも、備忘録として書いておきます。

119. The environmental commission concluded that there is a need for immediate funding to repair the dam.

(ダムを修理するために、早急な資金が必要であると、環境委員会は結論づけた。）

needは名詞でも使えます。

122. Mr. Jefferson has a reputation for taking risks, but his coworkers describe him as reasonably cautious in most aspects of his job.

(Jeffersonは、リスクを取る事に定評があるが、彼の同僚は、彼の仕事のあらゆる面で、

彼はかなり注意深いと思っている。）

cautiousは「注意深い」。人を描写する時に使えます。

123. Club members are allowed to attend the Healthy Living seminar at no cost.

(クラブメンバーは、Healthy Living seminarに無料で参加することが許されている。）

料金を示すときの前置詞はatです。

例えば、

Now that sales of Chage&Aska's CD are not sold at stores, 

we end up buying them online at a high price if you wish to buy.

（今やチャゲアスのCDは店頭にはないので、欲しいなら、ネットで高額で買うしかない）

やはり前置詞はat です。

125. As discussed in our telephone conversation this morning, Mr. Fox will arrive at your factory at 2 P.M on Wednesday, March 14. 

(今日の朝、電話で話したように、Fox氏は3月14日水曜日2時に工場に到着する。）

As ＋（it is )＋discussed：話したように

他に、

as requested:要求通りに

as scheduled:予定道理に

as agreed:合意した通りに

などなど。

Safety precautions：安全対策

precautionで「対策、措置」の意味。

新聞などを読んで、いかにこういう言葉が体になじんでいるかだ大事だとつくづく感じます。

140. All advertising at the National Textile and Garment Convention is subject to approval by the board of directors. 
（National Textile and Garment Conventionの全ての広告は、取締役会の承認次第である。）
→承認が必要である。


be subject to：～次第である。～の影響を受けやすい。

よく見るのは、be subject to change:～が変更される可能性がある。
The schedule is subject to change.（この予定は変更される可能性がある。）

16 Is a text message supplementary role?

Do you think text message is one of the important communication tools? If I’m asked the same thing, I would say “ of course.”(Unfortunately, I don’t have smart phone, though. )

For example, I haven’t met many friends for a long time because of my busy life. The thing which makes us keep the bond with each other is text messaging. I exchange messages with my friend as if I'm talking with my friends. 

The message can be long sometimes, but if I receive quick response from my friend, I give a short message in hope that I can continue to get a response soon. I don’t care about the length of the message. The most important thing is to tell what I want to say and to make sure receiver can understand what I want to tell. 

However, recently I received a short message which didn’t seem to make sense. I thought it must have been a joke and didn’t take it seriously. It is OK. Some of messages we send must be just an entertainment as long as each other understands that they don’t include any serious meanings. However, if how it’s received is different, it would cause a rift in relationships. If you send serious messages and receiver replies with a joke, the receiver may lose your credit.

I don’t know how important a text message tool is, but I may consider it just a supplementary role to keep communication with others. If I need to tell complicated things or mixed feelings, maybe I should call directly. Still, sometimes I hesitate to call, concerning the time and the receiver’s condition. I would have a hard time getting used to consider a text message just a supplementary tool.
